NATURE OF POSTION;

Promote and support an enthusiastic volunteer program that values the role and contribution of volunteers within a non-profit feminist agency working to end violence against women.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Related post-secondary degree and/or equivalent in education and training including 3 years in a similar environment

Knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques and experience in their implementation

Knowledge of concepts of volunteerism and experience with volunteer recruitment and program management.

An in-depth understanding of systemic discrimination and the dynamics of violence against women

Knowledge of fundraising campaigns, techniques and strategic communications, especially for charitable organizations

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database

Clean driver’s abstract, driver’s license and suitable vehicle

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work under pressure, work within deadlines and in a stressful environment encompassing flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed

Demonstrated excellence in communications: oral, written, public speaking, and computer usage.

Position Title:  Assistant Facilitator (Male) Competition No.                  17- 18 External
Program:          PEACE program $20/hour to a Maximum Contract Value ($2600.00)

Hours per week approx 7.5/  Mondays required

NATURE OF POSITION;

Provide assistance to Facilitator of school based project, to promote respectful and safe relationships for youth within an established curriculum. Provide appropriate support to youth, and assist with the preparation and delivery of school and community based activities. Provide facilitation in groups as directed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A combination of two years of employment and/or volunteer experience working in a social services setting.
  • Degree or equivalent in Child/Youth Care, Social Work or related program.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record check.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current driver’s license and abstract preferred.  Access to satisfactory vehicle and insurance pursuant to Haven policy preferred.
  • Feminist understanding of the dynamics and causes of violence against women and effects on children/ youth. Be able to reflect on power, social location, and provide an analysis of oppression.
  • Knowledge and experience in workshop development, group process and facilitation. Experience in classroom settings and youth centered environments.
  • Current awareness and knowledge of issues related to youth. Demonstrated capacity to engage with youth and develop appropriate relationships.
  • Demonstrate respect for diversity. Ability to be flexible about ideas and belief systems.
  • Awareness of and willingness to work on personal issues as they arise.
  • Foster team participation and contribute to the goals and activities of Haven Society as well as the CWWA Program.
  • Personal qualities and attitudes that welcome, respect, and appreciate participants, clients, volunteers, staff, donors, and the larger community.
  • Experience with public speaking or comfortable with speaking to group of 30 or more.
